In his role, he uses his depth and breadth of experience in AI/ML to plan, implement, and manage Teradata's overall AI marketing strategy and leads AI thought leadership. Akgun has more than two decades of hands-on practitioner experience in AI/ML, delivering actionable, intuitive, and impactful advanced analytical capabilities in major industries, including finance, telecommunications, supply chain, pricing and revenue management, retail, and transportation and logistics. He holds a PhD in industrial engineering with a specialization in operations research from the University at Buffalo.

Tony joined Accenture in April of 2024 as Data & AI Lead for North America Banking and Capital Markets. Tony is one of the world's leading enterprise data leaders, with expertise in data and AI strategy, governance, cloud technology, business analytics, data engineering, data science, and product management.

Previously, as Chief Data & Analytics Officer at Charles Schwab, Tony drove the evolution of Schwab’s scalable data, analytics, and AI capabilities. He implemented data and analytics roadmaps for all its business and functional areas, co-led a firm-wide generative AI strategy, and spearheaded the build and delivery of high-impact AI products that improved client experience and service agent efficiency while cutting costs, and boosting revenue.

Prior to that, Tony served as the Enterprise Chief Data & Analytics Officer at BMO Financial Group, where he played a key role in ensuring BMO met its U.S. regulatory obligations. He also was a member of the World Economic Forum’s Steering Committee for AI in Financial Services.
